 CASA of Mercer and Burlington Counties Recent Outcomes

  • 11,690 hours of volunteer time was provided to CASA for Children of Mercer and Burlington Counties in FY17.
  • 11% more foster children were served in Mercer and Burlington Counties in FY17 than in the prior year.

  • 352 children were served by our advocates this past year.

  • 14  veteran advocates were appointed as Peer Coaches in FY17.

  • 258 trained CASA volunteers are standing up in family court on behalf of children, ages newborn to 21 years of age.

 The Impact of CASA

  • A child with a CASA volunteer is more likely to find a safe, permanent home and is more likely to have a consistent, responsible adult presence in his or her life

  • Children with CASA volunteers get more help while in the system.

  • Children with CASA volunteers spend less time in foster care and are less likely to be shuttled from home to home.

  • Children with CASA volunteers do better in school than those foster children without CASA volunteers.
